It needs a sunny spot, to come like it is on the picture.

The color is magnificent. So intense. Wonderful shot.
Thanks for sharing, I may have to find this variety for myself!

Could you provide some technical details? Camera, lens, distance, that sort of thing.
I used to have difficulty with the colour purple on previous cameras, but I have a Nikon D100 now that manages purple w/o a problem.

The pic is soooo good I want to reach out and feel the texture of the flower!

My camera got a good for flowers lens but is completely lawsy when comes upto taking family portrets or landscapes! It got an 10x zoom Olympus digital cam. C-730 ultra zoom
3.2 megapixel.

This auricula was taken from a few inches away, and i can get super macro.
My camera can't handle every color too, Red end a very dark red(brownish red) is not possible at all. Even some vivid bluish colors can be a difficulty. Be that can be arranged with the settings. Mostly when i take a picture of purples(only in case of sun or high lights concentration) i take an ambrella. Or i wait till the sun gets after a cloud. Then i make the best shots.
Good luck
John
