Here's a pic of my Scarlet Macaw -Tiki-
Tiki was handfed by me and I aquired him from the breeder at 3 weeks of age.
Tiki has a wonderful temperment & personality for a Scarlet...they are not the best pets, they tend to nip and can be aggressive with non family members. Tiki can be VERY LOUD but is usually very well behaved, but he is just a baby.Tiki is 3 years old now. He has not shown the normal Scarlet behavior yet of being a naughty bird. He is very lovable with everyone he meets.He has a vocabulary that is very large for a Macaw and he is quite a clown.his favorite past time is playing catch with a soft ball. He retrieves... Of course his other favorite past time is breaking out of the cage & scaring the finches to death!! lol
his most favorite foods are a red juicey apple, fresh corn on the cob and Pnuts! He has a p-nut butter sandwich about 3 times a week.
His favorite word phrase is : MOTHER WHERE ARE YOU! ( screamed at the top of his voice)
Yes.. .he has bitten me several times and I have nerve damage in one hand and that was when he was a baby & was only playing..lol ...
This is Tiki in his cage and it's covered partly by a KING SIZE bedspread!
His cage is big enough for me to stand in and measures 3ft by 4ft by 6ft tall.
Tiki measures about 3 ft long from head to tail and has about a 6ft wing spand- with his wings unclipped.
He is the one of the largest natural breed of Macaws.
I'll post a baby pic of him ..if I can find it..
