Yep, that sure looks like it! We have already had our first on the 25th. So, as the old saying goes.....25 snowfalls in Lima, Ohio this winter. Acckkkkkkk.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

We had our first on the 28th, and they were talking about the same thing on the tube this morning. Gosh, I hate to think that we would have that many snowfalls this winter. Scoot, you got a lot more than we did. We got flurries again this afternoon and have not seen the sun for a while, but now it is supposed to get sunny and warmer for several days. I can handle that and maybe the rest of this white stuff will melt off before the next round comes in.

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

All you 5a folks surely know about winter!
We have to worry about ice and icing here and the loss of power. If we get a major snowfall, so does everyone else on the whole east coast.
Nearly all my 100 cuttings in the GH are ready to pot - that's how I'll spend a rainy day.

Redlands, CA(Zone 10a)

Here in California we are experiencing the coldest weather in 50 years. As a result, my Ipomoeas, Pachipodium and Brugmansia are suffering from severe cold damage. Even my Salvias are being affected. Last night, in desperation, I took a 7 mil. trash bag( that is a bright orange Cal-Trans type and put it over my brug with a flood light under it. The theory being that the radiant heat would rise saving my littlest brug. My Ipomoeas are toasted though and look a right cock-up.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

We got our first frost at 5am today, and by 6am, the temp rose to 33, and now it's 40, and sunny and rising, as we speak. When did I get my brugs in - last night @ 10pm, whew, I lived dangerously and cut it close; however, since they have really been 'seasoned', there does not appear to be any damage to those still in the ground...just in case you wanted to know...

bagpypr, what does 'look a right cock-up' mean?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

We are having a cold spell too, but it only got to 50 last night. The wind is what's done a number on my brugs though. The leaves and flowers look bruised. It's only snowed once here in something like fifty years, I hope this is not the year it happens again!
Scoot, I like seeing the snow pics but I have to say I don't miss seeing it in person!

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

We in sunny CA got our first freeze ( 28 degrees) the night before last....I was ready for it, with most of my brugs in my little GH. I put the propane heater on low before I went to bed and it kept the GH at about 45 degrees through the night. Just about the same last night, too. This is very early for any freezing temps. here.

A couple of brugs in containers were just placed close to the house and seem to be fine too. They even still all have their buds and blossoms...so no harm done anywhere that I could see.

I wasn't planning to use the heater until at least mid- December!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

We've gotten our 1st freeze too! Thank goodness, no snow or ice storms.....yet! As Pollygardening stated, "We have to worry about ice and icing here and the loss of power. " At least with snow, your car has traction, NOT on ice!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

When we got home last night we had almost no traction. Snow was so deep the car's belly pan was dragging.

Glad I got in the driveway until I encountered one of our notorious drifts in the middle. So there she sits.

The plowman plowed around the car , now I have to shovel the rest.

We have a huge driveway , almost a small parking lot.

Once a year it turns into a glacier, then the real fun begins !

NOT!

Redlands, CA(Zone 10a)

Sorry, it's U.K. slang for a real mess

Redlands, CA(Zone 10a)

A bit of brogue, that. Drives my wife mad. She says my speech is redundant. I say things like," That's beautiful, that is."

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

I'm shivering for you all -- it's 31 here this a:m, but is warming fast.
Scooterbug -- love the snowy thoughts, but count on my visiting during the summer!
