Roystonea altissima
southern california
(Roystonea altissima)
Not an Altissima.
why not... you'll need to take that one up with owner (Ralph Velez)
So you have been to his house, PalmBob! What fun that must have been!
http://www.palmssc.org/2006Sept/2006sept.htm
Many many times (well over a dozen, perhaps 2 dozen)... hard garden to photograph since there is so much stuff
Esp. palms where you have to be able to back way up to get them in the shot.
The trunk on altissima is very thin with hardly any bulge--about as thick as a large archontophoenix.
