This might be slightly off topic but I was wondering if Superthrive was only sold at Home Depot and Walmart in the States?......I am planning a day trip south of the border to Bellingham, WA to the mall there and was wondering if you can buy it at Target or Mervyn's etc.?.....Of course it will be used exclusively for my hoyas so not so off topic i guess!....thanks in advance :)
Sandy
question regarding where to buy Superthrive....
I could not find Super thrive anywhere ... I had to ask a garden cente to order it for me.
Sandy,
I found it at Fred Meyer too, I think there is one in Bellingham, but I don't remember, I have found it at Home Depot in central WA so I would assume that the Bellingham HD would stock it...
Soda, I have sent ST to people who couldn't find it before, if you want some send me a davemail...
Raven
Thanks Raven, I will look for it at Fred Meyer, when i go down there...maybe it will be at the mall there and go to Home Depot too...
Sandy
How much does SuperThrive cost?
I believe it is around 30 US for 16oz these days
Can't remember what I payed for my 16oz bottle from E-Bay but with shipping it came to around 30US.
Is it available in smaller sizes? We may have some U.S. members crossing the border.
edited to say "Thank you for the information Milan, and Raven_locks I may be sending you a Dave mail one of these months if I can't get a hold of it."

Yes there is 2, 4 and 8oz I believe.
Yes, there are smaller sizes...minute sizes in fact.
David Liddle in Australia sent me an article long ago (I didn't keep it, drats) where a Fish Grower said that Vegemite was the same thing....

And then there's Hormex, right? Same also?
I know i found some Superthrive at a hydroponic store here...the fellow there was selling it for an astronomical price....it was around $70 CAN but it was a larger size but still rather expensive....I will let you know the price etc. Pam if i go down across the border and find it there.....at least our dollar is cooperating and is a little more reasonable for purchasing stuff....
Sandy
I am told that Hormex is even better with one added "something"..and less expensive. The patent ran out on ST but people still buy the Brand Name.
Carol
Do you use Hormex the same way Carol?...same price also?
Thanks Sandy! :)
Yes...I use Hormex the same way AND it can be used as a rooting hormone (y'know, dipping the end in it before potting it up). Here Hormex is less expensive than ST....;~{)
Carol
Thanks Carol, I can have a look for Hormex too....sounds like a even better product than Superthrive....
No problem Pam, I will let you know the particulars when i get down across the line :)
Sandy
Super Thrive is good, I like Eleanor's F11, but not for rooting, for setting flowers, and am not familar with the other product. I don't use hormons to root up, perhaps I should LOL, you remember the trouble I had Carol Noel.
Eleanor's F11 may only be sold on the west coast, look in small nurseries, or Orchard's it is cheaper by the gallon, and it really starts vine/leaf growth, and flowers. Target, Wallmart, HomeDepot and the like garden center may carry it as well.
Those prices are outragous, you have got to be kidding. But by the time I would add on mailing cost it would be the same price. Darn, you can't win. Norma
Norma...as far as I can tell, "Rooting solutions" really help against fungus and rot. Everyone uses them here, so I do too. I really like a product called Dip n Grow...nursery grade stuff. They do seem to root faster. Dunno why?
Well i will look for Eleanors F11 too...the border guy will think i am starting a grow-op if i bring all those products back into Canada...lol.....(thats if i find any of them).....i will have to tell him its a hoya addiction instead....
Sandy
IHi you guys, this is a first for me in this forum. Just cruisin' and came across your conversation about ST and VF 11.
I didnt know you were calling it Elenors. I used it many many years ago and hadn't used it again until just lately. btw, I used to buy Oxygen Plus by the 1/2 gallon for my houseplants. You could not overwater which is a real challange for houseplants. Now I find that Hydrogen Peroxide is pretty much the same thing. I know someone is going to tell me I am crazy, but it works for me.
I bought, within the last month, VF11 16 oz plus an 8 OZ "SAMPLE" FOR $5 + at a local nursery in Spokane, Wa. Northwest Seed and Pet. So that was a good buy for 24 oz, $5. I bought Superthrive, 4 oz for $10 at HD in Spokane.
