I just Gotta Ask...

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Shannon, you DND gal you, I was just wondering if your office has anything to do with Geogie Bush's visit to Ottawa tomorrow? I will understand if it's all Hush, Hush, but I just had to ask.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

hmmmmmm chances are her office did.....have you noticed she is avoiding this thread?!?

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Oh, yeah. I realized very quickly that I should have kept my fingers still about that one! Oops!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I wouldn't worry about it.......she's the one that can't talk until after it hits the papers.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Woops....I just saw this now! Honest! :-)

Nope, our office didn't have anything to do with it. I work in the medical branch; sometimes we do have to get all secretive, but not to do with the Bush visit as it turns out.

However, I did spend some time downtown Tuesday evening after work (in my own clothes, not the uniform), and it was very strange - streets blocked, police everywhere (some with riot helmets & visors), helicopters buzzing incessantly overhead....can't say I enjoyed that atmosphere. In fact we heard the helicopters for hours at home that evening, while GWB was dining at the museum of civilization in downtown Gatineau. Have to say I was relieved when the city could get back to normal.

You have to wear a uniform to work, Shannon? Saves on the trendy business attire, I guess. Got any pictures of you in your uniform. That would be neat. Does your DH work in the military too. I am nosey, I know...

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Yep, it does cut down on the number of dress-up clothes I have to buy. Although, most of the military folks in the NCR (National Capital Region, government-speak) get to wear civilian clothes ("civvies") on Fridays. I look forward to that each week - I'm proud of the uniform and all, but sometimes you just want to go about your errands or whatever in relative anonymity, not being a representative of anyone but yourself.

Yep, he works in the military too. I'm a captain and he's a major, so technically I would have to salute him & call him "sir" if we were in mixed company (rolls eyes) - needless to say, THAT disappears pretty quick at the end of the work day....lol At home it's the cats who run the show anyway.

I actually don't think I have any recent pics. I never take good pics, anyway....but if by some miracle I get one I'm happy with, I'll share it with you. :-) Hey, feel free to be nosey!

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Oh my, I suddenly had the desire to Salute...Captain! LOL

Good for you, it's nice to see nice people like you representing our Country in the military.

I suddenly feel so insignificant! My only claim to fame is my self-appointed position as president ot the B.C. booster club! :-)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

LOL :-D Thanks tho'. It definitely has its ups & downs, like any job.
