Remembering last summer....

Gardening requires a lot of water - most of it in the form of perspiration.

Hah! How true. Brings back memories of +37C days of last summer! I used to beat the heat by starting my gardening at 6:00 am when the tempertatures were warm and it was so quiet. Just me, the cats , the dog, and all the singing birdies!! Ahh... dreaming of Spring!

The above quote was in the Jokes & Chat forum in a link a member provided on "Garden Humor". Check it out.

I dunno, I still like sleeping in....but for this darn job ;-) Donna, maybe you'll have to be my alarm clock at our RU.

Evening gardening is good too, in the summer - as long as you have a mosquito plan.

I only have faint memories of 37C days. Not from this summer. Early morning is a great time for gardening. Evenings are for cruising or sitting back and enjoying. Although I seem to usually keep puttering till dark.

Donna you'll have us through winter in no time! ;)

Echoes have you read the Farmer's Almanac to see what's been predicted for us next summer?

No. Have you? If it's bad, don't tell me.

Not yet.......been afraid to look! Hate to kill hope too soon. ;) Last years was, on the whole, pretty accurate.

Mosquitos!! Not in God's Country. I think that was the deciding factor for my DH to move here permanently when we were staying in Christina Lake. He is a Mosquito magnet and suffered a lot when we lived in Alberta. He couldn't believe how few there were in the BC interior. It is such a pleasure to spend time outdoors even in the evenings and not have to worry about those little !@)*>'!* 's.

I am a morning person, always have been. Must be from 35 odd years of having to get up early to go to work every day! By evening, I am pooped and pefer to just relax and as I mentioned before we go to bed early too.

It is not unusual for us here in the Southern Interior to have temps in the +30's in th esummer, more like the norm. You get used to it, and it is a dry heat, which helps. Of course so does Air Conditioning and Swimming Pools! This past summer I think we had nearly 6 weeks of nothing but blue skies and sunshine every day. I would get up each day and thank God for this beautiful country. Sorry, I do tend to go on and on..so my friends and relatives tell me. I should be the Pres. of the BC Booster Club!. I can't help myself, I love it!

Changing subject, DH and I went hiking today. We used to do a lot of it and it's one of our favourite pastimes. Since moving this past summer and DH with a new job, we just haven't had much time for it. We have only managed to go a couple times over the past several weeks. Well today was perfect; +4, sunshining, no wind. Away we went. Wonderful hike. Only got lost once! But found our way back to the main trail eventually. Great day!

we babtized the newest member of the clan today - lovely day at +2. that's almost as good as lotus land and a whole lot better than last years november when it was -30 for most of it, tons of snow, and i spent way to much time in the ditches

however the heat houser is on the tractor and it makes the mornings out in the field quite pleasant even with a nasty south easter
