The bounty of my garage harvest tonight....

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Pods are dropping left and right.... Not sure why all of a sudden they are all done. I must have shocked them into getting ripe by stuffing them in the garage.

All my brugs are spending the winter in here. They do very good even though they don't get any light.

Holy Smokes Kristi!!!! No wonder you had to thin your herd,I hope you come out with some good babies from them.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

I'm not growing any of them out root. I just was having fun with the paint brush this summer. I was shocked that so many of them took. Need some seeds? LOL... I still have about 20 pods in the garage that aren't ripe yet.

I take back about not growing any out. I just planted some seeds from Snowbank X Maya today. If they germinate and the foliage is all green I'm tossing them. I'm hoping to get a variegated plant. Chance are slim to none, but worth the try. I'm even SHOCKED the maya pods produced good seeds. The pods are TINY.

Wow Kristi!

Look at all that potential on your table! Any Rosamond amongst them?
Paul

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Paul the two pods on the table that aren't opened yet are Rosamond. Plus three or four plates have Rosamond X's. I've got your seeds ready to go for Friday. So keep a eye on the mail.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Cool! I have bunches still on plants, but we're due to get our first freeze tonight, so I'd imagine they'll be history... A lot of people are going to have fun with those, Kristi!

Brookhaven, PA(Zone 6b)

Kristi! look at all that empty space in the garage! I am so jealous! Mine are all crammed in one room, some at a warehouse where Chris works, some at my moms.

BTW Thank you!!

Goodness!!!! How wonderful for you and those with whom you are going to share.

May they all sprout!!!!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Paul, I've got to find room for two cars to still fit in there. I refuse to scrape frost off my windows or get into a frezzing cold car. The garage has a heater that is kept at 45F all winter. On real cold days I'll kick it up to 50, just to be safe.

Earthling- I've got LOTS to spare.

Judy- whoever I can get to grow them. LOL

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Kristi,
I would love some of the Rosamond if you are going to send them for sase.
Someone needs to grow these for you!Let me know, it looks like you have some beauties there!!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Wow Kristi! Theres so many!! Your garage is SO organized!!

Do you think if you would get a green seedling from snowbank x maya that it would be more apt to throw a variegated sport at some point? What are you hoping for as far as the flower goes? How fun!

San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Looks like a Brug buffet in your first picture. That's good to know, that the Brugs don't require much light over winter. These plants are really tough it seems.

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

any chance i could get some seeds from snow bank?
i have gave up on ever getting a cutting ? I can ofer frist born for trade ?

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I would love to send you an envelope for some seeds...the wierder and wilder the better...

Carol

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Hi,If you have any extra seeds I would like to try them. Thanks

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

If any of your snowbank X maya show up green save the seedlings!
chances are they will all be white and die so you NEED the green ones

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

CC- I'm only looking for a variegated seedling. I don't have the paitence to grow out a green plant and cross for a variegated one down the road. I also don't have the space.

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

Kristi, You could save some of the green and grow them out for breeding purposes. If you bred them back to each it might give you a good chance
of getting a variegated brug. You have quite a haul there. Some folks are going to have a good time growing them out.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I don't know if you've ever grown the variegated seeds but you will be lucky to get 1 thats not white
I've grown pod after pod and only get whites
you may get one that may look all green till you get it growing
I don't know cause I don't think anyone has had a green seedling from a variegated plant live
I may be wrong but I don't remember seeing or hearing of any
and if anyone does I would like to know the cross and how its doing....PICTURES!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

CC, I've gotten two green seedlings from Maya before. I did not grow them until they flowered. I know the odds are slim to none with these Snowbank seeds throwing a variegated plant. I just thought I'd give it a shot. I decided last season that I just don't have the room to grow a mass of seedlings out year after year. I wish I did have more space and time. Maybe if I was in a different zone and the season was longer.

I think Alice may have grown a maya out and got it to flower.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I know how you feel about the no space
I took over my sons old room to start seeds and I'm still outa space, and forget about fitting more in the GH.

I would have like to have seen those green seedlings either breed together or breed back to the variegated parent to see what happens

If anyone gets "greenies" from a variegated cross and they don't want to grow them out I will be glad to raise them up for you

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

If they turn out green I'll send them to you... ;)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Have I told you lately I love you???
Thanks

Wingate, MD(Zone 7b)

Hi,
If you have any seeds left I would love to try some. I'm going to order that rockwool and give it a try.
Thanks...Peg
