Stigma question

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

A lot of my blooms have dropped now. When I was looking at them yesterday I noticed that some of the stigmas are "intact" while others have split at the end and made 2 "curles". Does this mean anything? or do some just get 2 curles because. Hadn't noticed this over the summer, but the bees have been so busy lately I was wondering if maybe I'm "with child". LOL

I have never seen that myself. How odd. My stigmas that were pollinated and took never did that to my knowledge.

Hmmmm...maybe I'll mark them with something to keep track of which ones have done it in case they don't totally drop off. I can try for a pic,but don't have a macro lense so not sure if it would turn out.

Try taking a picture!

OK kell....managed to get a pic. Wish it had been centered better, but I had camera in one hand, book behind the stigma in the other while trying to dodge raindrops. LOL

I've seen it before but have no idea why it happens. Maybe brushed too hard when applying the pollen or something. I never bothered to think about it before. Good question Ginger.

Brugie...I didn't do any pollinating myself...left it to the bees and bugs.

Happy Turkey Day ya'll

Hmmm, I've seen that, now and then, newbie that I am, I thought it was because the stigma was wet and hit by hot sun. Other stigmas seem to turn dark and I've thought that is because pollination was successful. Does the stigma remain white when it has not been pollinated?? I think most of my fall blooms were pollinated but i doubt they will mature because pollination was so late...

Great shot, let us know if it is followed by a pod.
