brugmansia Simone

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Does anyone know anything about this brug or where I can find a picture of it? I received a very nice cutting of it today and would like to know something about it. Is it a German hybrid or was it bred in the states?
All I know for sure is that it is supposed to bloom triple peach colored flowers.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

The only thing I know about it is that I ordered it from Mary (Brugmansias.Net) a while back, but never received it as it wouldn't root for her at the time.

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

David, it is triple or double orange bloom. it used to be in the Abad Search Database. unfortunately it isn't there anymore.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

David, Susie grew this one from seed......I do not know what or where the seed came from. I have had a couple cuttings but never got them to root. I may be wrong (and I have been many times...lol) but I don't think this was ever a good flower.

I looked for a picture that I had but I most have lost it when my computer went out about 8 months ago.

I did find this quote by Susie that was posted here on Daves:

Simone is not released. It is Monika's seedling, a triple peach that smells wonderful but so far has bloomed with deformed flowers. We were wanting to watch it and see if it did better in other climates or if it got better with age. I sent several out for evaluation but only a few have told me how Simone is doing for them.

Thanks for the info Frannie. This cutting is about 8 inches long and at least 1 3/4 to 2 round. It is not rooted but I have it in a small pot filled with jiffy seed and cutting starter. Hopefully that'll get it to root if not oh well.

David, I got one from Susie last yr, but it has not flowered. Had a few buds but they fell off. Still hoping to get something to pollinate.

If it can be grown........David can root it ! He is great when it comes to rooting the difficult brugs.

I can't wait to see blooms!!!

What's your secret David?? I was in Surfside Beach/Murrels(sp) Inlett a couple of weeks ago, wish I had thought to let you know so I could have seen your brug garden.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Larry......I just noticed that I overlooked your post earlier. Good to see you here visiting. Hopefully, you will get buds again and see Simone bloom.

So Susie is this one released yet? I think I too killed a few of these. I may still have one out back.

Linda you really wouldn't have wanted tosee this brug garden this year. It has been very neglected and hurricaine damaged. With my grandmother having her stroke, work and all the storms i've been very slack on taking care of things properly this year.
With any luck this new year will be much better.

Hope things smooth out for you soon, I know you've had a lot going on. It's always good to see your posts.

My 'Simone' from Susy is big, but just finally got alot of buds this fall.
One bud was just opening as the hurricanes hit )o: Knocked it and all the other buds off, too. With size on it;s side, I am hoping to get it to bloom again soon.

David, good to see you here. I just asked if anyone had heard from you.
I know you had your problems this year )o:
But good to see you (o:
A Happy Thanksgiving to you, too (o:

Kell, it's not released yet. We still haven't seen it bloom other than the deformed flowers it had for me and I think when it bloomed for Tracey it was still deformed.

This is my second year growing the Simone Susie gave me. The plant is one of the healthiest that I have and it is great at setting buds...it just does not want to bloom! Count me in on the list to see a bloom!

That is a shame. So it sets buds then drops them, Meltn?

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

The Simone x Pink Pearl seedling dropped all of its buds, and some got pretty big, too. But they all had 2 calyx on the inside when I opened the big ones up. I finally gave up and composted it. Hated to, I had such high hopes for it.

Kell, it sure does drop buds. I seem to have trouble blooming the doubles anyway. I am going to keep it one more year and put her in the ground next summer! If it does not bloom, it will be sacrificed to the compost.
