Purchasing a Regular Old Fashioned type Camera

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Looking at a range of $400.00 to $500.00 (family is thinking of going together to buy one).

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance! :)

Pam, I've enjoyed the Advantix system - it's the type of film that you just drop into the camera, instead of having to thread it into the spool. You can choose three different sized shots - although with the panoramic one, what happens is the top & bottom get cut off, and the rest is expanded, so you're not actually getting any more picture. The exact opposite of what happens in letterbox format home movies, where the letterbox format is the only one where you do get the whole picture!

And you also get a sheet of thumbnail shots when your photos come back, which is handy. I don't know how the developing costs compare, to regular film - this should be something your local camera place can shed some light on (hee hee..sorry! ;-) .

Good luck with the shopping,

Thank you so much for the information Shannon.....as things usually go however, after one posts a question, I just discovered a pretty good camera (Pentax) was saved from the fire. So now we don't need a camera just a flash (that was lost). Much cheaper (thank goodness)!! :)

That's good news, Pam!
