Butterfly Ginger - Seed?

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Never saw this before, I still have some blooming and was cutting off the old canes. Has anyone grown seed, is it ripe?

Vi, I see them every year, but have never planted them. I'd let them dry out and give it a try, though. I imagine they would grow for you. If they are in danger of freezing before they dry out, I'd cut the stalk off right before the freeze and put in a protected area. They are probably already completely dried out.

I sowed some Kahili ginger seeds, they germinated easily and bloomed the second year.

Neato! Thanks ladies. I can't see me wanting anymore White BF, but I sure will keep it in mind when I get better ones to bloom.

Don't they turn black when they are ripe?

I'd just be happy if I could get my BF ginger to bloom. I'm putting it in the ground next year. I really think that maybe part of the problem.
