what about vacation?

OK - those of you with multiple cat households - what do you do when you go on vacation?

We have five kitties and had
1) live-in cat sitters who have done some destructive things to our human home items, and
2) people to check on the cats who "forgot" to go every day and the cats ended up being neglected (along with our mail overflowing the box) ... and
3) wonderful cat sitters who are no longer in the area.

We are afraid of kennels because of diseases and our kitties have had a rough autumn...

What do you do? Any suggestions?
