This is the most beautiful tree that I have ever seen. I have wanted one for years, but have seen them sunburn in the Pacific Northwest. I know that it would sunburn here, but I love it enough I may grow it in a pot on the shade!

7a denotes the winter minimum (about -17C), and completely ignores summer maximum. Finally, there is a map for that available. The results for me aren't good: We get a week or two that gets above 40C easily. I think last summer here had a 42 or 43C record. It's dry too, which doesn't help. Add that to the thin atmosphere and high altitude; I should stop complaining.
There is a Tulip tree, maybe two, in town. I think of justifying purchasing one saying that yellow is less apt to burn than white variegation, but I don't know this for sure.

What kind of humidity do you have there, Boots?

well your temps are a lot more than here, -5c to the 30c here and sometimes a bit more, both ways. this summer has been humid for here, not sure how much that is. but there has been a lot of tired and grumbie people.I now understand how plants can be burnt. Boots

The interminable summer sun does get folks down, though. It is odd but true. There ought to be a study on that.
