It's name is multiflora, but it's also called shooting rocket because the flowers look like rockets!!

Very pretty, congrats!

Hi Binky,

I will take a guess and say you have a large multiflora on your hands....I find its an easy bloomer when you keep it on the moist side.....hope it blooms for you, its a big one :)

Sandy

Great looking hoya, Binky - Sandy is too right! It is a water guzzler and could live in a pond and probably be happy!!! Well, almost...;~)

Wow....I grew up with 2 "plain' (H. carnosa and something very similar) types of hoya in the house....who knew there were so many different kinds! So, are there THOUSANDS? I'm DEFINiTELY going to have to get a bigger house! LOL :~D

If i could get anything else to bloom like a multiflora, I would be happy....I think Kachinagirl, you are on to something....have to get the Extreme Makeover - House Edition to do an addition of a few sunrooms and greenhouses, filled with some hoyas of course, that bloom....lol

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

LOL - I heard from a Swedish collector with over 200 large plants....she lived in a 2 bedroom apartment and said her daughter had 40 hoyas in her room. "She complains, but she will just have to live with it" was her comment. ....and GOOD FOR HER!

Modesto, CA(Zone 8b)

Sounds like me....as a teenager I had over 120 houseplants in my bedroom. My Dad used to joke that he should hang a machete outside my bedroom in case of fire so he could get to me.....LOL

Abbotsford, BC(Zone 8a)

thats just sheer plant mania you guys!.....imagine any number of hoyas blooming in her apartment at any one time.....it would knock you out cold with all the fragrances mingling with each other....how would they all get enough light in a 2 bedroom apartment....

thats funny about the machete kachinagirl....lol

Sandy, re the "fragrances mingling" - all my hoyas are in my bedroom. When more than one bloom is open, DH sleeps in the spare room - and I get a good night's sleep!! I love hoyas ... lol.

Well thats one way to get some sleep i would say!...I dont think my cats would even follow him into the spare bedroom to sleep though....lol..now i just have to work on getting something to bloom other than one little lonely bella (okay, i lied there's a multiflora blooming but they dont smell).....you have it figured out Christine!

I put opuntia plants outside of my son's bedroom windows, can you guess why? LOL I true story. Norma

So they'll be encouraged keep the windows shut and not compromise the air conditioning, would be my guess.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

My guess is so that he couldn't climb out of the window and go "adventuring"....LOL

Ah, Carol, but they have a built-in vine to climb down ... lol. My DH used to do that as a kid, until the night he got home and his bedroom window was locked!!
