Cuttings to Canada?

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Yeah or nay?

Thanks

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I have done it, but lots of problems! Took mine 10 days, paid $9.00 for 3 days.

I sent a padded envelope off yesterday with some cuttings in it and learned something interesting....if there is ANYTHING incomplete about the address the Canadian Post Office will return it. This is, apparently, new, and in retaliation (it is thought) for our border restrictions. Of course, the envelope went off annonymously....LOL

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Thats a good point aloha.....annonymous sender

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

only problem with that is they may destroy it , and you will never know.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I doubt if they have the time to check names against addresses. USPS told me they reject/destroy/return if the address of either one is "incomplete"...

Are international relations great!!!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I'll bet part of the reason could be because of something I just heard about during the summer. The USPS stopped sending parcels to any of the customs points on the prairies. Now all parcels from the USPS are only being sent to Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. Apparently this is new and there isn't the staff in place here to cope with the deluge of parcels. It seems that there are thousands of parcels in the post office that need to be cleared by customs. They say they MIGHT get through them by Christmas.
Fun and games.

Our American neighbors, I hope you won't take the antics of the Canada Post Services personally. We have the same problem in Canada, while sending to other parts of our fair Country. If we don't include a proper Postal Code (Zip, to y'all) and the other parts of the complete address, it comes right back to us too! They can be a little stiinky when it comes to that. :)

Thanks for the input. I decided against shipping to canada. I did some googling also and just dont feel like dealing with the troubles should i be "found out"

I don't blame you MSJen. We fully understand and have discussed it on the Canadain Trading Forum, that the border regulations just does not allow cuttings or any live plants to cross the border either way, and to "the powers that be" we must bow down and respect their decisions. Even seeds are "iffy". You can send to us without any problem. But most often the customs (don't rightly know which one) will stop seeds coming from here in Canada to you in the US. I was lucky enough to make it across for the DG Christmas seed exchange, as did another gal from Vancouver Island, but I know they don't let slips like that happen too often. We just have to live with the regulations that the government makes, that's all. :)
