Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

Who knows what these long tapered critters growing in the crotch of this Queen Palm are? They are about 3 feet long and look sort of like a gourd. Thay weren't there in August when we last were here.

Those are going to be flower stalks. They will pop open with a large stalk and millions of white flowers that will be covered in honeybees, then the flowers will fall and large green fruits resembling olives will form. I always cut mine off after they flower but before the seeds ripen because they are messy.

Just for the record is that palm really growing in Z5 NY or is the pic from a vacation property you have somewhere warm?

Hi Canna That Palm is growing in Spring Hill, Florida. The only thing likely to grow that tall in NY are the piles of snow LOL. We are retired "snowbirds" and make twice annual treks back and forth with our menagerie of 4 cats. The "vacation home" is actually the NY place these days though.
