Heya Vossner,
I have two that are in pots and they should do fine in full sun as long as you can keep them watered. They do lovely down our way and seem to bloom almost all year. They are easy! Good choice.
They grow at a nice steady pace, too .

Hope that helps some.

thanks, I'm excited. There is some car repair shop (unlikely place) in the town I live that has a planter outside the door, about 2' X 6' planted w/ orange ixora. I went bananas when I saw it, so dear sweet hubby stopped by the place one day so I could ask about the plant. Turns out the mechanic's wife is an avid gardener and it was her special touch. Maybe she is a DGer, hummmmm

thanks for your input

I couldn't stand it any longer, and I finally went cruising around town and stopped by this guy's auto shop to take a pic of his Maui Red Ixora. This is the way they look, summer, winter, you name it! I am so jealous of this guy!

here's another shot. I seriously doubt he does anything special to them. Yet, I baby and fret over mine and it is nothing like this. Mother Nature is unfair sometimes

These photos are mind-boggling. When I lived in Houston, there would be an occasional hard freeze. Ixoras are tropical. I wonder what is the lowest temp. they can withstand planted outdoors like these? Does anyone know?
I wonder if these are Maui Red? My potted Maui Red is pink.

these are maui red, an orangey red. I planted some in my property in NE texas z8 and they didn't survive the cold season.

my plant in houston is inground, full sun, and it died back last (very mild) winter. I was sure I had lost it, but it has come back. A little plant, only about 8" tall but healthy. IME, they can survive a few hours of freezing temps and that's it. a day here, a day there, but that's about it for cold tolerance.

The ones in these pics are in planters and they ALWAYS ALWAYS look like these. I was so impressed and touched them, just to make sure they weren't plastic, lol
