Should I be fertilizing now -in Nov. ?

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

I have many buds on my potted brugs but don't know if I should still be fertilizing or not. Daytime temps in low 70's outdoors, in GH 80-90 F. Coldest temps in and out has been 39 degrees. Don't expect frost until at least mid to late December. In GH where most of my plants are I do not plan to keep temp. up much above freezing.
I am watering only when I see leaves wilting to try and decrease fungus gnats.
If I should fertilize should it be full strenght or less.
What are some of you zone 9 members doing?

I think that care varies by zone. As long as they are actively growing and full of buds I would probably give them half strength. I think what you really have to be careful of is too much water and cold temps. 80-90 gh temp would probably dry out pretty fast. I'm just guessing here, wait and see what the others say.

I agree, I fertilize all winter long for ones that are actively growing, they also bloom inside for me in winter. Don't overwater.

I also agree -- I just fertilized all mine over the weekend...full strength.

Thank you all...it sounds like I should add some fertilizer next time I water!

Good thread, Margie. I have a very special Brug to take care of so I'm always trying to learn more. It's my first baby, from a very dear lady!

About fertilizers, what is the norm? I hear a lot about Miracle Gro, but my experience is that it can promote aphids from the hig nitrogen. Does anyone use compost or worm castings?

Thank-you, Angela :=)) !

I usually alternate MG and fish emulsion and sometimes add in some super thrive...I am sure that they would love the worm castings and compost. What doesn't?!

I haven't fertilized in a while, and this thread reminded me to!! But I do not want them to grow much over winter so I will go light.
