I don't know if this has something to do with the new security features or what. There's an application that gets hung/fails pretty often. I only noticed this after loading service pack 2 for windows xp. The reason I think it may be security related is - it's just a guess but...the application that fails sometimes is something that loads in the background and runs every time windows starts up. AND the name of the application changes every time, but the one constant is the aplication name is ALWAYS 6 characters long and ends with .exe For example, it might show up as US45C1.EXE one time and anther time it's WBH345.EXE. Never the same. But it's always there. My guess (again) is that the name changes so a virus can't go in and shut down a security feature because the virus writer would have to know the name of the application to kill...but they can't if it changes names every time it loads. Make sense?
Anyway, this thing is hanging now and then and it bugs me. Here's a few examples of the failure from the event viewer. Anyone ever here of a fix for this or do you have this issue too (sometimes)?
