Any one ever heard of this?

Has anyone ever heard of passiflora malsiformis? I can't find anything on it!

Sounds like it SHOULD be Passiflora maliformis.

That's right. I wonder why this company doesn't spell check.... alot of their latin names are mangled.

Yeah. Then they leave you guessing what THEY are selling What's a real problem is when the plant name spelling is close to another plant in the same group. Then you almost have to flip a coin.

Capt. I have 3 or 4 Maliformis in 5 gallon pots, what would you like to know about them?

I guess it would help to know their growing requirements.

Are they one of the cooler temp bloomers? Do I need more than one to produce fruit? How does the fruit taste? It sounds yum, "honey cup"!

Do the cats like it or leave this one alone? Anything else you can think of? I've just started with passis so I'm not sure I'm asking all the right q's.

Oh! Will these bloom the first year from seed is started in about Jan or Feb?

TY!

Capt. 3 of my plants are seed grown and are now 2nd year plants and they didn't bloom, so I have a feeling they need 3 to 4 years. The other was from a cutting and started blooming at about 7 or 8 feet tall, in it's 2nd year. They are pretty tropical, so I would protect them for the winter. Mine has easily taken temps to the mid 50's, but I haven't left them out in anything cooler to test it. Most of the flowers will self pollenate just fine without hand assistance and without another plant or flower. The fruits are small, smaller than a ping pong ball and are pretty sweet. They are very hard shelled for a passion fruit and the easiest way I know of to open them is with a walnut cruncher, but you don't need to put a lot of force into it.
