I have several seedlings that are getting pretty tall (24"). Is there a way to make them continue growing up without "Y"ing. Or do I have to start with a long trunk cutting. I'd just love one for my deck.
I'm sure there are treads on this subject.
Any info would be muchly appreciated!

Just let them grow. Lots of seedlings will produce very tall trunks before they Y.
Let them grow, some of mine didn't Y til they got 8-10 ft.
Oh cool. One of them grows about 3 inches a day. I'll just watch then. Thankx!

Monika has some very good information in her book on this. She also has pictures to show how to trim it back in the fall.
I still pull out Monika's book to reread parts. It is really full of info. It gives you exact how to instructions on lots of things. All Monika's many years of experience she shares freely so the reader can avoid many errors.
I thought that her book is not printed in english. I hate flipping through reference pages. If this is not so please tell me. I do have the other book but it's not really that helpful.
I think this one plant has grown 4" just since posting this thread. Maybe it will be a tall one.
Oh yes, Monika and Jeanne worked on translating it for all of us. We had begged her for months. It comes with a little side book in English. It is just great.
