My PVC hothouse

(Nadine) Devers, TX(Zone 9b)

My brother built my hothouse that I designed my way...We still have to put up the door frame on both ends of the hothouse...The greenhouse in that is behind it will have the fiberglass panels taken off and replace with cattle panel arbor...Took me, my brother and another friend to put this up in five hours...
The hothouse is 12 feet wide and 20 feet long...the doors will be 32 inches wide and approx 6 feet tall...out of yellow pine..
Still got the wooden slats to put on top of the hothouse after the doors are done..then will cover it with plastic...
The floor of the hothouse will have newspapers laid down first( to help keep the weeds out) with Texas Cedar mulch and hardwood mulch on top it..

Here is a side view of the hothouse...Forgot to add a note..I am also going to mix sand in with the mulch to help keep out the snails and slugs...

Tell me about sand and snails/slugs, please. I'm having a real problem with both.

Your hothouse is looking GREAT!!!

Thank you for the compliments! ...I use alot of sand mixed with mulch..Snails and slugs hate to crawl across sand cuz it is mostly tiny glass like cutting particles...it can cut them up as they crawl across it or bury in it.. and also dry them out...LOL...I remember my mom teaching me to use sand as a drying agent for flower drying projects...so why not on the floor of my hothouse...it works here...I do not use any chemicals to kill anything here on my land...
I have Xmas lights to hang up in there..mostly all blue colors for nitetime and white for daytime if the weather ever goes below 32 ...and my propane heater as a back up...

Moodene,
Very nice.... I'd like to see a couple more pictures that include your cattle panel arbor..... I've been using cattle panels to put up arbors and gazebo like arbors all over my yard and I love using them......

Ohhhhh, pictures please of cattle panel arbors & gazebos!!!!

Well that will be a job coming spring and I will take pics of that...I have been trying to figure out what to do with that old greenhouse so I thought about taking off the old fiberglass panels cuz they are slowing cracking and peeling and breaking all down( nearly 30 years old)...and just leaving the metal pipes up...Putting the cattle panels over the metal pipes and growing something over it...I have a very old gilder swing to put under the arbor to sit in..
I have flowerbeds already on the sides so I will put rangoon creeper vines there so they can grow on the cattle panels...The flowerbeds have gingers, lemongrass, peppermints, and hopefully bananas will be planted there by spring...
One of my dreams is to put cattle panel arbor over my patio in my backyard to further extend it out...still haven't decided what to put there to grow...

Moodeen, that sounds like a great idea! I adore Rangoon Creeper and Gingers. I grow both and and also had many bunches of banana's this year.
I bet you are pleased with the progress on the hothouse!

I am also building a greenhouse. The roof rafters went up today. It's turning out to be a much larger project in time, money, and labor than I ever thought. I am excited and ready to get it finished....

NightBloomer54, I bet ya getting excited about your greenhouse..only 1? I am doing three all together...lol...cuz I am a plant collector...It takes alot of time and effort to get one done but it is always not enough room once they are built...lol...One of my houses will be a seed and baby growing plant nursery..that will have plastic/shade cloth on it..I will have air fans..I have gotten some propane heaters from my brother who does RV's mechanic stuff that I am recycling into hothouse heaters..
