LOL, I thought I should find something to at least get the Canucks fingers moving! How is it going today, Linda? Raining there? Cloudy and cool here. Kind of a blah day. Can't complain after hearing about what Nova Scotia is going through...yikes!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

It's pouring rain here and windy. A good day to stay inside. I couldn't believe how dark it was a 4pm today.
Impatiently waiting for spring to arrive.

It's really nasty up island. We were on Denman Island last night came back around noon today, the power is out, not sure when it's coming on. Ferries aren't running to Cortes Island or from Denman to Hornby Islands. It's pretty nasty here in Campbell River too. Don't you just love November. NOT

Wasn't too bad here today, not much rain and little wind. Think we missed what was forcast. I'm sooo glad I don't live in the maritimes any more. Hope they make it through this OK.

I was inside most of day. Our little ones, (my sons' kids........the boys are 8 mos tomorrow, and Jenna, big sister is having more fun with them....can you remember 8 mos? Pulling everything down. After brunch today...they, the little guys, were playing on the carpet and all of a sudden, I noticed Gavin had some funny strawy-stuff hanging out of his mouth....by golly. he managed to bite off on the tassels from the cushion on the floor..........do you know how many strings made up that bit of ornamentation!@#$%^&..........then Jenna, to top it all off, was covered in purple ink, from the stamp pad, from head to toe!!!!!!!!!!!! batten down the hatches......Christmas is just around the corner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You gotta love grandkids...but it sure is nice to send them home with their parents! Little Sweety Pies, Elaine.

Gotta love that auto-flatterer!! Thanks.

Sunday I played domestic goddess, the weather was lovely but quite nippy, but I was only out for a short bit with the cats in the a.m.

Grandkids, yes, they are just wonderful. I myself have three, but none close enough. Two (Emma 12 and Nicolas 1-1/2) live in California with my rotten daughter who thinks its nice to get paid lots of money to be a nurse...sigh. The other, also a Nicholas, aged 1, lives about a 2 hr. drive from us, so I get to see him lots more than the California kids.

And yes, Xmas is way too soon .... lol.

Happy Monday!!

I am in the same boat Christine. I have only one Grandchild, a little boy who just turned 3 and they live in Edmonton, so we only get to see him once a year or so. Even though I talk to him several times a year and email frequently, it is still not the same is it? I send lots of photos so he won't forget us! :)

Thanks for that flatterer, Donna....that's a hoot! It should be the first thing we do each day - particularly any of us in less-than-fulfilling office environments... :-)

I don't have any grandchildren stories to share yet, or children - but am still blessed enough to have both grandmothers! One lives in Mill Bay, BC (planning on visiting her after our RU), and the other in Saskatoon (ditto). That's one of the drawbacks of living out here - it's so expensive to visit family.

My grandmother in Saskatoon has had a few strokes, and is now in a nursing home - she can't speak, but can write and has pretty much all of her mental faculties. My dad set her room up with a fax machine, and programmed my work fax # into the speed-dial, so now she and I fax each other! She also faxes her three sons. It really breaks her isolation, being able to initiate a coversation, without waiting for someone to come visit.

Only 4-1/2 days to the next lazy Sunday.....

Shannon, what a wonderful opportunity for your grandmother. It is so important to keep her communicating and her brain functioning. I have a MIL in a nursing home in Edmonton that is vertually a vegetable. Over the years, she slowly shut down doing things or being interested in anything and she went down hill very quickly. Keep your Grandma busy and interested in things and knowing that you are interested in her too and she'll be so much better off down the inevitable road.

That Flatter was kinda cool wasn't it? I could do with a built-in one that would get me going every day. :)
