This is one of the seeds from Callalily I started in April, it's now about 9 feet tall! So far I've had 4 of my 21 bloom, 3 like this one & 1 white. We had a hail storm here last week and smashed the heck out of their big leaves, so they don't look so good;) Just wanted to post the pic in case Susie would like to see how the seeds turned out. I can't believe how huge these guys have gotten-8-9 feet and still growing! Thanks, Kathy
Another Callalily seedling
Good job Kathy, that's very pretty.
yes, they are VERY pretty...something about those yellows that makes a day so bright..
She loves to see how they turn out!! This one is so special. Love it! Big sunny blooms!
Thanks!:o)
You know there are people in Petaluma that sell small starts of brugs. I used to see them online when I woudl be in brug seek lust, but you had to be a wholeseller. I love Petaluma. I used to check out their antique shops alot!! You have a great Japanese Maple nursery there as well as some rose ones.
beautiful Yellow
Nice one!
kell, thank you. In all my driving around town here , I've only seen maybe 4 brugs total, unless everyone grows them in their back yards. I can rarely find any in the nurseries either, just CG & sometimes just labeled "white". Go figure;) Anyway that was why I wanted to try the seeds, there's so much anticipation in seeing what color they're going to be. 17 more to go & crossing my fingers the weather holds out for awhile:) Kathy
How cold does it get there in the winter? I am praying for a warm one! Last year my petunias flowered all winter! Usually they die.
That is a great looking yellow. I see a lot of nice straight trunks in there. Hope they bloom soon.
Very pretty Kathy !! I have never had one that shade of yellow. I like it !!
kell, I think our winter range is 21-16 degrees F, probably slightly colder than your zone, although last winter was warm here too. I quit fertilizing these about 2 weeks ago, now I'm wondering if I should continue with the MG to see if it will make them bloom faster. Sorta going on the advice to quit feeding roses this time of year so they don't get tender new growth. Thanks again, Kathy
Thanks you guys! Everything I learned about brugs I learned from this forum:) All the helpful advice, links & everyones photos-I'm addicted lol!
What a pretty shade of yellow!! WTG Kathy .... lots of blooms.
Very pretty, Kathy. What is the cross on these?
A pretty flush of yellow. I hope you get to see more of your seedling bloom before it gets too cold. I think you have done well with your seedlings.
Kathy, I have some of her seeds growing too. What cross is this one? None of mine have bloomed yet. Probably not til next year.
Nice yellow! Way to go!
Bj
It looks great! Congratulations to you and Susie!
Thanks so much everyone. These were just labeled yellow, orange & peach crosses & a packet of "mixed crosses" so no individual names listed. It's looking more orange as it ages.
Planted Calalillies last year, but they didn't survive. we live in zone 8b Thomasville GA. Will I have any luck in this climate?
raelil, Calalily is the username of one of our members here. She made lots of brug crosses and many people have grown out her seedlings. If you are talking about her seedlings or others, yes, they should survive your zone okay, but anything can happen. If you are talking about the callalily bulb, I'm sure they should be dug and brought in to remain dry for the winter.
