How exquisite in that closeup view. It looks like a fairy castle or something. Sometimes I wish I could be a butterfly and see all the flowers look that big. Of course, I would hate to see the spiders!
Stacey, I am still trying to germinate the aristolochia, but so far nothing has happened. I will be patient...all aristolochias are supposed to be a bit tricky to get going. The other seeds you sent will be started about February, I think.
Glad the hurricane season is finally over?
Shhh, hurricane season isn't over until the end of November. It was a wild one this year, that's for sure. Even though it's been pretty dry since many of our waterways are still running high.
Luckily for me I didn't have to start the Aristolochia seed, Kris (another DGer) gave me a plant at a Georgia swap. I sure hope they do well for you!

I've always been a fan of milkweed and this one is gorgeous. The picture is great too, egh, I can see the milkweed bugs upclose.
That closeup is wonderful. Great photo.
Is this a host to a butterlly? It sure is elegant up close like that.
What a beautiful plant. I have to have one NOW! :) Where can I get one?
Snow
Y'all should see it in person...it's a stunner! This one is at the botanical gardens so I don't really know anything about it. Comments in the PDB say that it's a wonderful Monarch host plant...
ETS...unlike most of the milkweeds these flowers are huge, each one easily as big around as a quarter!

this is beautifull, I always thought of milkweed as a weed, how wrong I am, does this produce seeds
Ahh, Floridian .. that top flower and its center .. looks to be one of the hand painted porcelain creations .. that we see offered by the Danbury Mint .. for purchase.
A strikingly beautiful flower, and a most spectacular shot too!
