It's called a spathe. Philos and other plants get them too. Kinda odd looking aren't they.

That's strange, my Alocasia or is it Colocasia, developed 3 spathes, one after the other too. and it is in an indoor pond..I told Liz about this and apparently, this happens...I couldn't figure out what on earth they were??? E

Do they get seeds? Jody

I don't think they make seeds. I have never heard of ee seeds before, but I could be wrong. Most ee's reproduce very quickly, especially the "runner" ones, which send out above ground runners that will root in and start new plants. Is your a bulbous one or a rooted one that produces runners?

It was a bulb and also has pups. Jody
