My Poor Baby

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

I took my Merlin to be groomed today. This is the first time I'd ever had a long haired cat, and I guess I just don't know what I'm doing, because he had two terrible mats of fur under his arms. I really wanted brushing to be a good bonding time for us, but he just absolutely hates it...so I just run the brush over him a few times and call it quits. I told the groomer about the tangles, and said that I'd like them to brush them out, but if they have to cut them out, I understand. She explained to me that they try everything first, but if he's too difficult to handle, they may have to sedate him. In that case, It'll be after 4 until I can pick him up. I don't want him to have to be sedated, but I must say that I almost know they'll have to...unless he's a totally different cat with them than he is with me.

I guess from now on, I'll have to be all business about brushing him, and not be such a wimp when he wants to be freed. He's a biter when he's confined, but he doesn't bite hard. I just don't want him to hate me. I guess this is why he had to be shaved at the shelter because he was so matted. It also may be why someone gave him up....poor baby. (sniff)
