A Texas sunset

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

This sunset was so pretty last evening, so I took a picture. This was on my way home.

Beautiful.

A few years ago a co-worker's mom and dad came to visit her here in Texas. They were from Wyoming. I always thought of Wyoming and Montana as having gorgeous sunsets and sunrises, bit evidently not where they lived. I say that because Joyce said her parents sat out every evening to watch the sunset and arose before sunrise so they could sit and watch that. Joyce said both her
mom and dad said that Texas had the most glorius sunsets and sunrises that they had ever seen.

I think only Arizona can compare to the beauty of the sunsets. I love the sunsets and sunrises here.

I love our sunsets and sunrises..........problem is they go too fast!! That old orange sun just does a slam dunk at the last minute.

We have always stopped to admire sunsets at our home. I was so proud when my 14 year old caught this picture one day, so I could see when I came home!

Eyes, I know what you mean, lol. I had to get used to sudden darkness here. I was used to twilight that lasted for at least an hour, maybe longer in TN but here in TX it will be daylight and when you blink twice, it's pitch dark!

TxMel, I would be proud of a teenager who took the time to take that picture, too. You must be parenting reallll gooood! Adeline

I always love to see the pinks, oranges and blues this time of year when we have sunset.

Eyes, our sunsets are like that too. Well, away from the M.Sea that is. Here inland, we are barely dusk....more like daylight without direct sun ;-)...then boom, within 5 minutes it's pitch black outside. The other night I was driving home from my daughter's ballet lessons, came around a bend and through the long ravine I saw probably the prettiest sunset I've ever seen (in person rather than in photos). I had to keep driving as it was a one lane road around a busy traffic circle....kept driving to the other side of the hill and before I got there the sun was already down below the horizon. Just PLOP!...gone! I'm so glad I got to see it though :-) The ravine is right beside where they are digging up the earth to build an underground fast train tunnel...so I'm certain all the dust in the air contributed to the lovely colors in the sunset ;-)

Great picture, Posie. Almost looks like the sky is on fire.

This picture was taken October 20. I think the reason sunsets are always so vivid here is because of the low humidity that we commonly experience. It allows light to be dispersed and seen much more clearly than with a heavily leaden lower atmosphere.

Thank you for your good comments. I love taking pictures, but I am just a point and shoot person. Many years ago, I tried working with different lenses, but by the time I could get a lens on, the shot would be gone. So I quit that.

Brugie, when you said, "Almost looks like the sky is on fire." It made me think of one my granddaughters took last summer.

Here it is.

Woops. Will try again.
