I just received brug log cuttings and I would appreciate knowing how to plant these?

Brug log Planting?
I have tried planting the logs in a horizontal position, half covered with soil, and had good luck. There is just one problem for me and that is........They have to be planted in a pot that is deep enough that the soil can be filled to the top little by little as the shoots grow so they will have soil around them to form roots and can then be cut off the log later. Otherwise, you have a log full of shoots that you can't cut for love or money, into small pieces. If you don't need more than one plant, I would plant it vertically, just like most cuttings are planted. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you don't need more than one plant from that cutting, just stick it in dirt and let it grow. LOL! If you want multifple plants, grow it as a log........either way, you will surely get great looking plants.
I've never tried 'log' cuttings so I can't help you, sorry.
Thank-You both so very much...
Will do that..we're so blessed to have people knowing so very much here on DG.
Best regards, Ingrid
Does the cutting I just received qualify as a "log" about 7 inches long and 2 inches in diametere?

I tried planting a part of a stem that had gotten broken off using the horizontal position. Didn't take long for it to shoot up a couple of leaves. I've been adding dirt every few days. Brugie is right about that one.... you have to leave enough room in the pot to add soil as you go. The initial log is sort of rotting away so I've tried to cut back on the water but it seems to be doing ok.... I'm not sure how to get more than one shoot out of a log.
I bumped a log cutting thread up .... I found lots of good info in it...... you might too.....
