H. cembra has 6 buds on it. I never even noticed until I pulled it out from it's tree hanger during our first cold spell. Are they going to blast or are they going to bloom? I've been waiting all week to find out.
I think I need to visit Dianne492! H. nummarloides should have been blooming by now, and nothing. I've been feeding them "bloom damnit" and they're playing hard to get.....

Okay, this sounds just lovely, but now I'm really depressed. We need more summer up here!!! I'm starting to think, that once I get my den back, of turning it into a solarium so I can try to keep up with you all. I got six NOIDs from a friend a few weeks ago, and they're all rooted and ready to plant; all I have to do is wait 3 yrs for them to bloom....sigh. I've got a line on a Cdn hoya grower in Sask. who will ship in early spring. So, I'm already growing!! Wait until DH hears about this plan ... hee hee hee.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Wow, Dianne...that's super. So, are you taking photos of your NOID so you can ID it? I have just ID'd a NOID and found it is H. halophila.

I have H. halophila, H. thomsonii, H. cv. Ruthie, H. cv. Ms. G, H. australis X H. BSI-1, H. diptera, H. sp. Tanna, H. lacunosa, H. obscura, H. archboldiana (YAY Susan, I found my white blooming), H. cembra, H. pusilla. I repotted a bunch this spring so I don't expect them to get crowded enough to bloom until next year. H. imperialis (2 different plants) are forming big buds....can't wait!!! Mine hang outdoors all year but I bring the ones that want to rest in under the eaves so they don't get the rain. Our temps are getting cooler (by a lot) at night.

Ceedub - the Scandinavians all have housebound plants and have amazing blooms. They would be the folks to follow!!

Later....I edited this to add a few more. I have just been out repotting, rehanging, re-everything and noticed blooms coming out on H. ischnopus, H. naumanii, H. onychoides, H. megalaster, H. siariae, H. heuschkeliana...and another NOID.

WOW! You ladies make me want to recondsider to move or stay when hubby retires! Oh well, we've got at least 14 years to decide!

I only have a few blooming right now. Hoyas DS-70 (tsangii), brevialata,
multiflora, variegated multiflora, obscura, caudata. Hoya nummularioides has buds, but they seem to be just sitting there....
I have all of the above (exept one Hoya DS-70, and H. caudata) in the house. For care I just have them over humidity trays and mist alot, I'm holding off on fertilizer for winter.
In the GH pretty much the same care, I mist every morning and be careful not to let them dry all the way out. So far the temps stay at 60o at night and up to 100o on sunny days....

Mel needs to get in on this she has several bloomers!

Tillamook, OR(Zone 8b)

Oh wow! I'm so jealous! All I have blooming at the moment are DS-70, nummulerioides and pusilla. I'm am so looking forward to when it starts getting warmer!!!

Raven

Well.....I only have buds starting on H. kerrii and H. DS-70. All the rest of them are sitting there as if to say "..what?....WHAT??" when I look them over. LOL My office is 70 degrees....should I warm it up some? (I have them all here so my cat doesn't mess with them!) Most of them are babies anyway... cuttings in 5" pots. But, one day........ Karen :~D

Okay okay, I've started keeping my hoyas a little moister. Last winter my Holliana and Krimson Princess bloomed periodically through the winter; must have done something right. I'm so jealous....lol.

I kinda like it MORE when a NOID blooms...the big mystery can be solved! AND enjoyed.

My new 5 noids were just planted in earth last weekend, so I have a loooooong wait for them. The person I got them from has this huge hoya plant that she's been adding new hoya plants to for 15 years, including one I gave her about 10 yrs ago (motoskei). She's hasn't had any blooms, but thinks that the flowers that come from the cuttings I took could be blue, pink or yellow. I'm not going to post a leaf, I've seen a few different hoyas on here that look like them. C'mon 2006....or 2007....

Looked so many times at this thread but never posted cheeeeeez.
blooming:
multiflora (a constant bloomer anyways)
bella
compacta
carnosa
pubicalyx PS
of the latter three I don't even have to see the blooms I know they are there when I get hit with the fragrance in the evening. All of those are in my bedroom and it's like sleeping with honey covered candy up the nose LOL.

Hi Milan,

I was just curious.......since they are in your bedroom and of course we are at the time of year when natural light is at a premium, do you have some artificial light supplementing them or just au natural? lol....from the pic of your compacta, it is larger and so must be your carnosa and pink silver too....I was curious on your secret to get them blooming at this time of year....yes, i know, one of those questions again.....lol

Sandy

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

No supplement light on the ones I got in the windows. I just water them every 4 weeks with 1/4 strength Miracle Grow Ultra Bloom in the water and a drop of ST in the water for every weekly watering and that's about it. I was excited to see that my archboldiana had a peduncle growing a few weeks ago but the peduncle now just sits there (darn), guess it needs more time.
The still unseasonally warm weather until now also helps with the ones on the windows as I know that they do not bloom when it gets colder.

A few more blooms: H. siariae, H. naumanii, H. pusilla, H. ischnopus, H. diptera (almost all the time now), H. pimenteliana (the NOID, really cool scent), H. anulata, H. sp. Tanna, H. cembra, H. curtisii ...H. cv. Sunrise (almost all the time), H. lacunosa (another all the timer)...but....:(...H. imperialis blasted its' buds...guess I let it get too dry! drats!

H. wallichii has put on a peduncle, and one I got from Ed Gilding as H. fraterna (?) also has a peduncle, so I get to find out if it IS H. fraterna or not.

I really shouldn't post...I realize I am the ABnormal here living in Hawaii...and I feel darn lucky!!!

Thanks Milan, i was wondering if you had those ones blooming right through winter without light supplementation or what..you have had some good weather then...its been mild here but the usual dark and dreary, rainy days of winter have set in....but after december, the days start to get longer, yah!.......and Carol, thanks for all the pics that you and Raven and others put into the PBD.....great to browse through and look at....living in Hawaii is always a good thing!

Well let me add H. sigillatis to my short list, kinda surprised me that this one started to bloom even though it is located at a cool window place.

pretty bloom to go with the showy foliage .....it must of like the cool window Milan

Valley Village, CA

I think I'm going to cry, Carol I lost most of the ones you named. I just can't keep it humid enough for them to flower here at home, that is why I house them at the Huntington. I lost many of the ones that you named, I guess I'll need to place an order during the summer to replace them, it just make me sick. I know how that poor gal felt when she lost her collection. The heater went out today, and that gave me a scare. I don't know how many will make it through the winter, we are going to have a cold winter, this worries me. I don't have them in the house, I have them in a semi-heated greenhouse. Norma
