These pictures were taken in 1997 when I was running a small AV biz here in Canada called Brenda's Bloomin' Babes. Since the blossoms are all labeled, I thought I would share them with you.
AV Pics to Share
Hey feel free to add your own pics to this thread. I need eyecandy, too! :)
Thanks so much for adding the wonderful pics!
More more more we always want more pretty pics...lol

Oh my, Songbird, what lovely and varied blooms! Those color plates look suitable for framing. :)
I wonder if there's a way to enlarge them even further than already supported (by double-clicking on the pics? I'm itching to see the detail of all the flowers, now. LOL
Thanks for the gorgeous additions to this Forum!
Donna
Oh, those are lovely!
I like the second pic best...that's very nice.
Thanks for sharing your pics.

Gorgeous! I wished I would have had my digital camera back when I still had all my violets! Those pictures of mine above were scanned in. I tried to get them bigger but it didn't seem to make any difference. I'm thinking I may have to go the Calgary show this year just for the photo op. They have their annual show and sale around Mother's Day every year and there are 100's of them! And leaves for sale, too! Do you leaf exchange on this forum in the warm months?
Yes,we leaf exchange...actually we trade just about anything, plants leafs .
This AV forum and many of it's members are mostly new so perhaps spring will bring a flurry of trades.lol
Get those pics and share them here....we love new pics.:)
MsC
Yes we do!
Wonderful handhelpers!
!
Now, I don't feel so bad about all the trays & trays I have everywhere..lol
At least I'm not the only one.
Spring should be wonderful for trading.
MsC
Wow handhelpers!! That's a lot of little baby plants! They all look so cute! I've been thinking of trying to grow some leaves from my plants. I've never done that before, so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for sharing those pics!
It is easiest to start leaves in large grade vermiculate using a seed tray with lid. If the vermiculate is too fine it will be too mushy and not let enough air in. When using a seed tray you can start lots of different kinds in different cells and if there is too much humidity on the cover you can put a clothespin on one end of the tray and prop one end of the top up on it for a while. Use any fertilizer at one half the recommended strength. I've started hundreds of them this way.
Thank-x for the information. I'll try this the next time I break a bunch of leaves off while moving it or dusting around it! LOL.

How nice of your father-in-law. That is quite nifty! What is the name of the first plant on the bottom shelf? It looks like a bright pink fantasy?
greenthumber, That's a great window! How nice of your father-in-law to do that for you. We just replaced the windows in our house last year....wish I'd thought to put a garden window in my kitchen.
greenthumber,
That's a wonderful window display. Thanks for sharing your idea.

Songbird, I really wish I knew the name of that plant, other than "violet"! It is probably quite old, as it was my Grandmother's (I inherited all her plants when she passed and have no ID on them, and she probably didn't either, she just loved violets and took what people gave her) It has ruffly petals and I think a single flower and is a hot pinky-purple color with really dark green leaves. Souns like it might be it? :)
Thanks for the compliments! Would you believe that it is all just cut to fit right in there, no nails or screws or glue? Hubby didn't want nail holes in our 100+ year old house plus they are replacement windows with metal sashes, not wood. Pretty nifty he figured that out, just like a puzzle. :) Now, if only he'd get busy on my bathroom window.......
Yes, I have dreams about getting one of those greenhouse windows someday...they are soooo cool! :)
Sorry....
The last pic is of a mini trailing violet, it is in a self watering pot. I love those things.

Bj,
Your Av's are lovely. I really like the last one.I bet it's pretty with a pink bloom.
MsC
Bjsbloomers - if you are having trouble starting that plant again, trying picking a leaf with the least amount of varigation as your mother leaf. A leaf with a lot of varigation in it will be harder to propagate.
I'll have to try again as I would like to share this one. The first leaf I started with was a vari. one, it started right away. Thank-x for all the information.
I love DG it has the nicest most helpful & generous people!
Bj
