H. thomsonii

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I just went outside to find the air filled with a strange "kind of" nice scent...and found H. thomsonii in bloom. I can't decide if I like it or not..Anyone else have this? What do you think of the scent?

Hmmm "strange kind of nice scent", LOL now quantify that one.

Beautiful flowers. Another one for my wish list.

My wish list's up to the moon by now. Here in my wonderful part of Canada I can't find a good local supplier for hoyas. Who has these dagnabit lovelies around here?? Maybe I've hit on a business venture idea .....

Abbotsford, BC(Zone 8a)

Hey Ceedub, I am with you there....spread it to BC and we can be in business!....can't find a good Krimson Princess in nice shape let alone anything else around these parts......I get so envious reading about these hoyas the nice neighbours to the south can find in their local nurseries....its just not fair!

Sandy

Hey, I got mine from someone in Canada! So there's one hanging around somewhere!

It was Naz on the GardenWeb.

Well...everyone I talk to loves the smell... DH thinks it is spicey...I think it smells OK...but I would rather look at it! All our noses are different (thank goodness).

Hi Ric, I haven't heard from you in a long time. Welcome.

Carol the leaves on that one is lovely as well, Mine hasn't flowered yet, but it will. Norma

Quite lovely, I don't have one, so can't say on the scent!

Long Beach, CA

I recently got a little plant of that one too. I love the leaves. They are thick and speckely (is that a word). I think it will be a long time before I get any blooms like that, but I don't care because it is so adorable anyway. Ha.

Today makes about the 6th day that bloom is fully open. No sign of fading.... 8~D

There's another question for you Carol, or anyone who might know. How long, on average does a hoya bloom stay open? I find its usually about 8-9 days for mine. Of course, like everything else, it likely depends on which hoya on is talking about, right?
