Hi,
I've got two seed packets with the following seeds:
Dracophyllum traversi
Zephyranthus sulphurea
I can't find any information about these plants in my books or on the internet.
Does anyone here know what they are? Any info would be very helpfull and a picture would really be excellent!
Thanks a lot!
Agnes
Can someone give me info about these seeds?
Hi Agnes,
Dracophyllum is a member of the Epacridaceae family and it's because of the similarity of the leaves to the Dragon tree (Dracaena draco). I've looked in the RHS Dictionary of Gardening but cannot find traversi under Dracophyllum or Epacris.
Zephyranthus is closely related to Habranthus and Hippeastrum but again I can find nothing for sulphurea under any of those names. Where did you get the seed ?
El Tel
The seeds came from Doug and Viv Rowland (a small family seed bussines in the uk). They were replacement seeds for out of stock items.
Thanks for trying!
Agnes
Zephyranthes are often commonly called Rain Lilies...if that helps!
Agnes
These are instructions that came with zephyranthes (rainlily) seeds I rec'd. in a trade.
Soak in water for 24 hrs. Plant in pots and cover with approx. 1/4" soil. They will look like small hairs when they sprout. Keep watered. In 9 mths. to a year, transplant them into pots or garden bed. Takes 2 years to bloom. In zones 7b and lower, protect in winter.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
I think I just treat them like the known types of zephyrantes and dracophyllum and see what comes of it.
Will be continued in a couple of years time...............
