I just need some info on this from any one who has experience. How much would it cost to ship a 2 pound box to canada? The only way I know how to send mail is through the usps website and it's giving me quotes like $11 which is kind of high.
Is there a certain way to send? Can I use a different method, maybe ups? Does $11 sound right?
Mailing to Canada?
unforunatly once you ship out the usa international rates apply. to send a money order to Canada is 4.85 for the money order it self.
you can ship ups to canada. i dont know how much it is but i know you can.
its international rates and they are high.
I dont think we can send plants to canada
CaptMicha- Maybe , if you wanted check on my DG file for comments. There are many there which sent from the the States to Canada. They might be able to answer your question on this.

I sent plants to canada and they were confiscated. I got a letter from Customs. If you're sending CLEAN bulbs, you might not have a problem. But there must be absolutely NO dirt on the roots I was told. I no longer send anything out of the country.

Sad to say it sounds about right. I sent a small box and it cost over $9.00! Had to fill out customs forms and everything - gave me a bit of a scare when the post office wouldn't leave her trade at my house and I had a note telling me to come to the PO - I was sure I was gonna get nailed. As it turned out, I just had to sign for it because it was insured! Does anyone else insure plants???
Actually for a 2 pounds USPS air parcel you pay more than 11 US.
Do avoid UPS as you may get hit with outrageous brokerage charges (been there)
Anytime you send plants without the proper paperwork to Canada you run the risk of confiscation at customs. Anything with soil on/in it is a NoNo. Houseplants for personal use and not for resale can be brought across the border in person but mailing them would require an Phyto.
