First double "Candida White"

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

This is my first double to bloom and for some reason it failed to drop the skirt. I was soo disappointed, it had three buds and none of them dropped the skirt. I know at the time the weather was changing and getting cooler and had started raining alot. Could that be why?

When I had this one, it never did drop the skirt. Only down to about even with the outside skirt. It always remained stuffed, it always attracted mites, and it was always a disappointment to me, so out it went. LOL! Do you think that it is the shorter days and cooler temps that is holding it back for you, maybe?

I bet other blooms will. On mine, I got most to drop but some didn't. In fact as I recall, I had several different looking blooms on the one bush.

The main difference I am finding in the cold, is the color of course being lighter. But also my blooms are much smaller on most of my brugs.

Well I don't have a clue as to why this one didn't drop, I just know it didn't and it didn't with all three blooms. But I will keep it one more year or let it go through a few more flushes and if it does the same. OUT it goes to.........
It is pretty but I have others I am growing out that I am hoping will be much better so I don't have the space to give it....

Ours is in our bedroom at a sliding door with no drapery and it has bloomed its little head off and finally has dropped its skirts really nicely. It got cooler in the bedroom and I haven't fertilized as much but other than that the care didn't change. LOVE the fragrance of this one!

Today, my CDW bloomed - she has been in the process of blooming forever, more than a week. Prior to a recent wind/hail storm, she had 6 buds, all about the same size or age. After the storm, only one was left. Yesterday, it opened and I thought, oh, dear, the second skirt is not going to drop, but when I went out this am, it had dropped and the bloom is complete and normal, except that it is a cream color - unless, of course, cream is the color she is supposed to be. Her bloom, because of the length of time it took to open, is not as 'fresh' as it could be, but it is lovely (THANKS, Ada!!). So, I went out and pollinated it. I guess I should have taped the blossom, but I didn't think it was necessary. Went back after I read the recent postings on this thread, and it appeared that she had been pollinated, but, guess what, there was a tipsy bee sleeping inside!! Have you seen a tipsy bee??? If you haven't, you will know one when you see it! If there was a Bee Task Force, that tipsy bee would surely have been charged with PUI, Pollenating Under the Influence!!!! BTW, I LOVE tipsy bees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, thanks, Dee!!! The bees are at it again this am, they are low flying and staggering in and out of blossoms on V. Peach, CDW, EP and 8 unknowns & naturally pollinated, all heavily flushing! Seeing my gardens in bloom makes me totally forget all the work it took for this to happen...
