Marilynne, I've seen these plants offered at online cactus/succulent nurseries as well as on eBay. I've seen them offered numerous times on eBay. I think they would perhaps do OK in Florida. I have two in pots that I have kept outside on my balcony for about four years now. As pachypodiums go, I think they are rather easy to grow. Mine grow very slowly because I rarely water mine. They would probably grow faster with more water. When they get larger, I will probably put one of them in the ground. When they bloom they have a dark wine colored blossom. They don't bloom until they get larger however I have seen them bloom at around 12-14 inches tall.

Here are my own two 'babies'. One is fatter than the other and has slightly shorter spines.

I've had them for about four years now. They are each about eight inches tall.

RWhiz, It's now 2009. You have pictures of your babies? I'm ordering a couple from Miles2Go, I think they're fantastic!
