These get this big?
And do they change colors as well?
American Crinum,swamp lilly seed pod
There is a thin skin over the actual seed. It will dry and split. The seed is huge and knarled. I often lay one on a pot of damp soil. After a short while a root comes out and penetrates the soil. From that root leaves and a bulb form.
Unfortunately mine, which is pink, very often produces albino plants. Since there is no chlorofil they eventually wither and die,
I found a bulb on the beach in Hawaii long ago, and it had rooted in the saltwater!!! I smuggled it home to Seattle and grew it...it was gorgeous. Bad news is that there was not enough light during the right times of the year...not enough....not enough...so it never bloomed. I gave it to a friend with a greenhouse when I left and he bloomed it.
Thanks, its still a waiting game now,to see what I get when it dries up.
