bulbette ?

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

what is the difference between a full size bulb and a bolbette, other than size?

I thought the bulbettes were not mature enough to bloom...but I am pretty new to this so you may want to wait for further answers. Julie

Basically as Julie mentioned the difference is mature enough to bloom or not mature enough to bloom.

Are you referring to a particular kind of bulb? Some kinds of liliums for example, form bulbils in the leaf axis and they are small and actually "squishable". They'll form roots the first year, leaves the second, and bloom the third.

I don't know of any other differneces. Maybe some else does.

Bulbils are the small tiny babies that are attached to the parent bulb. The larger bubils will bloom the following year and the smaller ones will mature in the ground after 2 years.
