Black E.Ear

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

I was gifted with a large E.E from another DGer. My question is does everyone keep the black ones planted year round? I have very large greens ones that I dig and let dry and then store the bulbs.
Thanks,

You will need to bring it inside for the winter. I would leave it in the pot though, they are easy to store dormant by just holding back on the water. If you want it to grow all winter, put the pot where it gets light and don't let it get too dry.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was so excited about getting a new large one. It is getting in the 30s tonight here so it is inside with my banana tree.

callalily, I have a question about storing my calla lily bulbs? :)
I am in zone6 so I must bring them in, this is the first year for me. Do I treat them the same as EE and canna?

When I lived in zone 7, I would just stop watering the pot, let the leaves die back and the bulbs go completely dormant. Don't water again till you see new growth in the spring. A few varieties were hardy there and I just left them in the ground all winter.
