I live in cental part of Texas and am desiring to get started with brugs. Is there a nursery that carry them in the area of Austin or San Antonio? I am soon to make a trip from Odessa to Weimar and would like to find some of the plants on my way home. Can't wait to get started and can't find any. Maybe there is a place in the Houston area? if so I can do that also.

Desiring to find a brugmansia at a nursery
Beverly -- Schumacher's Hill Country Nursery in New Braunfels has some huge brugs in their private collection. They are un-named as far as I know. You might want to call Chip, the owner and see if he would part with some cuttings.
The best way to get started (beyond finding a generous person here that will share cuttings) is buying them from a reputable dealer on e-bay or mail-order. There are several members here that sell brugs. I would share with you, but I've had a virus problem, and I'm quarantined for the time being :(
Good luck!!!

Beverly,
I live in the Baytown area outside of Houston and there are places with brugs here.
Donaths nursery in baytown has some. Not sure if they know the color. I could send you or meet you if you come to the Houston area and give you a cutting off my single white (no name) Or for sase I could send it.
Lmk and I will call and find out the colors that they have here.

Hi Beverly,
What a coincidence, my DH is from Weimar. We visit the inlaws once a year and we were just there in June. I looked around the few garden centers I visited and there is a store there in town that sells brugs but they are unnamed. I don't remember the name but its on the main street and they sell all the wrought iron stuff & stars. Then there was Country Gardens in Schulenburg. They had brugs and only labeled as being a peach color.
I've read a few people have bought from this source and have been happy with their orders. The prices are pretty good for the cuttings. http://www.katzkuntrykuttins.com/brug_index.htm
Good luck in your search. I hope someone can help you find a good local source.

Sandy & Gretchen thanks for the info. I am going to try the info I got from Gemila first.
Gemila, I am friends with the owners of the place in Weimar, The Front Yard, but they only have datura. I will check the Country Gardens and see if they have brugs. I believe I will place an order with the katzkuntrykuttins. I just can't wait - too anxious. Thanks to each of you for the help.

Beverly, I have purchased from Kathy Kort (Katz Kuntry Kuttins), and she provides nice, healthy cuttings or rooted plants, depending on which you're buying from her. I like doing business with her :)
I too have purchased cuttings from HYPERLINK@www.katzkuntrykuttins.com] and been very happy with them
Beverly, I will start cutting my brugs. back next week. If I have any that you are interested in, I will be glad to send you cutting for postage.
Patricia
