To all of you whom I sent starts of Horseradish this past Spring, was wondering how it did for you. Just curious...........

Riker,

My Sister planted it and it grew pretty well and got tall. She dug some of it not long ago and was very pleased with it.

Thanks

I bet there is nothing like fresh horseradish!!!!!!

I heard you can even put a bit on your feet for some reason, think it may have been a breathing condition.

I'm sure it's got a healthy kick to it..........will be a nice when spring comes and we can all get out in the dirt, but it's time to rest and tend to other areas of our lives, more on the inside now and at the homefront. Just picked up a used sewing machine because it came with a cabinet like I have been looking for, with drawers and it came with a Kenmore sewing machine. Couldn't find the foot pedal for along time, it is attached to the inside you use your knee so I was thrilled to find that out and I feel I got a real good deal, it does work and I will have to get busy trying it out, so I can get use to it...
see ya all later

RikerBear, with fresh horseradish, do you just grate it and use it fresh? Is it really potent? I love horseradish in bloody marys and with prime rib - yummy! Ok, mouth watering just thinking about it!

Yes Plant-fiend.....I peel the root, crush it, grind it (out doors), and than bottle it. This year I made the most amazing cocktail sauce using some of my 'maters', peppers, and of course horseradish. YUM!

I bet it's a good idea to do this outdoors - spare yourself some tears! I bet that cocktail sauce was great!

RikerBear, I have some, as well. I got two small plants from Burpee a few years ago. I don't remember exactly what kind it is, tho. I have moved it several times-now it's growing all over the yard!!!

I'm curious as to how you preserve yours? I haven't been able to find any info on prserving it, so I just use it fresh. There IS nothing like fresh Horsie Sauce!!!!!

I hot pack can it with a mild vinegar solution....but your right it is MUCH better fresh.
