Someone PLEASE come and help me put away all my plants!!!!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

I do this every single year! It's going to get down to 35F tonight. I just don't think I can push it this time. I better get busy and stop typing, unless someone wants to come and help? LOL

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

If you lived closer I would. Stop typing and get to work ;) LOL! If you can't get them all in, there is always the garage to hold them over for a few days.

I have been working for a week, digging/potting, carrying to basement, have garage, breezeway and covered patio filled, only have about 40 more plants to bring in. To be 31 degrees tonite. We go through this every year, then in spring, it starts all over agsin, only in reverse.

You go girl, you can do it!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Gemila I wished you were closer too! You could help me dig.

Gloria- only 40 more plants LOL.... Your going to be out of room. Do you have more this year then last? Everything is going in my garage right now, even that will be a challenge.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

I would if I could... :) Good luck getting it all done! I'm going to be working outside all day today too. Hopefully cutting the grass for the last time, then taking cuttings of the brugs I want to keep...

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Yes, Kristi, I do have a "few" more than last year. I have many seedlings also. These are in upstairs room with lights and heat. I have a full basement, DH put up dbbl. florescent lights for extras in basement, plus the GH down there. 3/4 ths of the basement has no plants! YET!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Good luck to you too Gretchen! Gloria, can I borrow Ed? Do you let any of the plants go dormant? I plan on letting all my brugs go dormant this year. Seems they did better this spring then when I tried to keep them growing.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Doubt if I let any go truly dormant this winter, as I have florescent lights all over. Lost a few last winter in dormant state. Don't know if mites or what.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Help is on the way! I'm so excited.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Good for you!! I hope you have time to get it all done.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

You'll be one tired gal! Bet you get it all done, with time to spare.

Good luck.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Good luck, Kristi, hope that you get everything shoved inside before it gets too cold! I haven't brought ANYTHING inside except the adeniums so far. My DH was actually asking me this morning if everything was coming inside soon! We're having a couple of nights this week in the upper 30's, then back to mid to upper 40's after that.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I'm getting ready to pot up lots to go in the GH, in pretty small pots. Do they grow so much in the GH that I will have to pot them again during the winter??? I have not even started because of the rain. If the rain doesn't stop soon, I'll be potting, setting up and moving in the rain...

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Good luck!
I have one brug still outside thats coming in
Its suppose to be in the lower 20's here tonite
I feel silly digging my cannas in november
but I can't get to them till this weekend
heck,they're still blooming

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I have already dug my cannas, so much easier before they get too much rain and frozen. The dirt just knocked right off the tubers, made them much lighter to carry in..

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Just got done digging up all my Canna bulbs too. I felt sad doing it cause several were getting ready to bloom despite the frost damage the leaves received a few weeks ago.

I'm hoping you get it all done datdog.

Good luck Kristi. I too must think about getting my hoophouse up! Ah winter! and Christmas is just around the corner!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Gosh I haven't even started yet. I'm going to kick DH in the butt if he doesn't finish the reapirs to my GH and get it recovered. We are only getting down to mid fourtys so no problem except for a few tropicals. I bet if I start bringing them in the house he would hop to it lol.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Sunroom was a blessing here, still have a few rootballs to dig.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

someone please explain how you let them go dormant as opposed to growing them out all winter. Mine are in a heated basement and I have some light there.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

UPDATE: I'm on my third glass of wine.... Does that tell you how much I've gotten done? Actually, I did bring in almost 2/3 of the brugs. The rest, I'm still not sure if I'll bring them in or not. My garage is PACKED. I had a friend come over and help me move some of the big ones that I had staked with rebar. The rest I managed with my little hand dolly. I also got rid of several standards that I didn't want to winter over as well as a zillon cuttings. I sure wish some DG folks lived close to me, I'd load them up. I have a extra HUGE Pink Beauty and Golden Lady I won't be wintering over. Right now, I'd not care to see another brug until spring! Thanks for all the encouragement, I needed it. I think with the colder weather I'm getting lazy.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I really know the feeling,I gave away as many as I could and trashed a huge pile.

I wish I was closer to you to help, enjoy the wine!

Me too Root! Now I don't feel so guilty after seeing your picture. I tossed SO many small plants today as well. Where you been?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Have fun with your wine, hope no hangover in the morning! When you said you had help on the way, I thought you must mean Root was coming!!!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Enjoy your wine Kristi. Mine have been in for about 3 weeks now ... some are still blooming away though they are pretty naked looking.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Gee, datdog - if I'd known you were tossing, I'd'a hopped in the car and taken PekeBoo for a little road trip!
