WANTED: Pampa grass,,,, not seed please

Abbottstown, PA(Zone 6a)

I need about 10 roots of pampa grass yet to plant before the freeze. I am outlineing my property line along the road, and figure 10 should be enough to do it. Let me know if I have something I can trade for some pampa grass.

Be very careful which pampas grass you get. Some are quite invasive and you'll have them reseeding all over your property. Also, how big is the area you're planting? It's amazing how big these can be. I thought I needed 2 plants 5 feet apart some years ago, and wish I'd only planted one. I now have a clump which is about 5 feet thick, 10 feet long and 10 feet high, which I have to cut back about twice a year!!! And they're not the invasive ones!!

My propert line is 2 acres long so I dont think that will be a proble, and if i see them spreading I have plenty of room with 2 acres to plant on. I am trying to close us off from the road. So I think all pampas will be welcome for what I need it for.

There is a "pampas" that is hardy in 6 (Erianthus ravennae) and one that is not (Cortaderia selloana). The one that might not winter over outdoors has the larger, more fluffy plumes while the other is much taller and hardy. You may have already known this but I thought I would point it out in case you didn't know about the hardiness and common name thing.

Thanks for the information, I will note that when asking for pampas.
