I have good news and bad news.First the good news.During the last 4 years we have seen a rapid increase in hybridizing brugs.We have about 500 named kinds already and with the addition of German pollen,seeds and past cuttings we now have the gene pool to create enough new brugs to last a lifetime.Now the bad news.I no longer will be growing anymore seedlings. I have niether the time nor the room for any more plants.I am removing the flower beds around the yard except for around the new patio.It will still be my Hawaiian garden next summer.I have been a slave to my house garden and pets for way too long.I have not had a vacation trip in more than 8 years and I am NOT getting any younger.I spend about 3 hours a day with my own garden after spending 8 hours a day growing gardens at work. I no longer enjoy my own plants.So I have thinned the herd down to about 15 or so brugs..a few special seedlings from friends, and a few at work. No more 70 -100 kinds.I can't handle that many anymore.We have enough people breeding these plants now that I don't need to do it myself.Maybe I will get a vacation someday. I need one.
Meanwhile I have several pods on plants I crossed this summer. The seeds are available to people wishing to grow them on.I ask that I retain breeders rights in naming any really exceptional hybrids, and maybe get a cutting of the same hybrid. The seeds will be available in packs of 10-20 seeds.I need postage of $1 for an envelope of seeds.The hybrids will pretty much be whatever is available........but should be some nice new kinds.Email me for details.I hate to do this but I am still tooooo young to be housebound by my pets and plants.Some of you will understand.

End of an Era...............
I don't blame you one little bit. I've cut back a lot this year, not only brugs, but other tropicals. I am sure we will both have plenty to keep us busy though. LOL! More is not always better.
Kyle, sometimes we all need to learn when to say no. You have done so much for so many in the brug world. Time to relax a little and enjoy a little free time. I hope you go on a super vacation!
Kyle, all I can say is that you'll be missed! I hope you have a chance to pass on a little that you've learned to us, especially about pest resistance! And, I sure do hope you'll get some of yours released to us soon.
I sure understand about being a slave to the garden. Life is way too short, and these are very demanding plants! Best wishes to you in all you do, just hope you won't abandon us completely. Thanks for all you've given us :)
Kyle, you are absolutely right in that you need to be enjoying your life . We never know what tomorrow will bring. I would love to grow out some of your seeds. I agree to your hybernizing rights. Please let me know where to send my postage.

Kyl;e you have mail. They are a lot of work but at my age that is all I have left as a hobby. They give me my daily exercise. All I have now are the standards like Erics white, Versicolor, Dr Seuss, EP, Solid Gold and Frosty Pink.
Kyle -- you've done so much for the brug community, and are to be commended! I think I can safely say that all of us here appreciate the hard work you've put into improving upon, and adding variety to the wonderful plant that brings us all to this forum. Seeing as my seed offers are getting quite deluged I will send seeds starting with the first requests and go down the list.I will have pods ripening for a while yet.Should have more seeds all winter.So be patient ya'll! LOL :-)

Wow, do you have 500 grown plants now? Or did I misread the post? Everyone needs a vacation. I would love to try a few seeds. I am new to brugs, this year I only have 2, but I can see how they can become so addictive.

Kyle, good luck to you. I don't blame you at all; sometimes we all need to step back and smell the roses. Take your pets with you; they will be a lot of company, but do try to get away for a little while. You are so right - life is too short to be so tied down. I am not going to have brugs, except the few I have now, because I think my climate is just not good for brugs. Right now they are beautiful, though leafless. They are blooming their little heads off. I think I will enjoy gardening so much more if I do not have to fret over brugs. Once again, I hope you manage to sneak in a little time for yourself.
Germany is also a nice place to visit Kyle. My brugs bloom best at the end of July/Mid August.
Now that is an offer that is too hard to refuse! LOL!!
Maybe it will get you reved up for more hybridizing.
So sorry to hear it Kyles but I too understand. When it becomes a job and not pleasure what's the use. Take that much needed vacation and enjoy life again. (((HUGS)))
