Diane inspired me to take a photo of my stick garden....
Thank you, ma vie, earthling, woodspirit, DianeK, TJ and mmqc !!! Still waiting for just a few more. They are all beginning to root and growing nicely.
Now I wish, like Diane, I could say that I have a place to plant them all come next year. Well, actually I think I do...I just need to get creative !! I will have the whole winter to do that!!
My stick garden...
Thanks for taking the time to post this picture!!! I love it!!!
Judy
looking good Margie. thanks for sharing ur photos.
I also use mason jars, but I love the idea of putting them in a dishpan. Mine tend to get watered on the run and it's always messy - this would really solve the problem. Thanks for showing us how you do it.
They are looking good. Next year there should be a lot of gardens with awesome brugs.
oH, YEAH..Margie - you got it bad too! Looks great! LOL
Actually - looking at these stick gardens makes it easier to face the prospect of the next 6 months of cold, dreary, gardenless weather I am facing - envisioning how beautiful they will look and smell next year and watching over them as they grow like babies in nursery - sure helps get ya through the winter.
Next big milestone is when those seed catalogs start coming in in December - I just LOVE seed catalogs! LOL
Diane
Wow, Margie, how exciting. Hopefully you'll have some planted in the front so I can drive by and take a peak! Let me know if you need any more mason jars, I could drop some by.
Mary...how did you know I ran out of mason jars? Yes, I could use some...also, call me and you can see my plants even in the back! I keep wondering just where I am going to plant all of them...actually where I am going to plant any of them. I will have this winter to think about it and then get busy digging next spring!
Yes, Mary, I did have you confused with Angelia...I just saw you post where you hadn't ever smelled a brug...and wondered about that! Now I have it straight! Thank you.
It is so nice to have local brug lovers!
It is nice to have local Brug lovers, Margie. Sometimes I drive slowly through the Willow Glen area neighborhoods and admire their gardens and Brugs and I wonder...could they be part of Dave's Garden? If they're lucky they are!
I can bring you mason jars, I have some of the pints and quarts. Which size do you prefer?
Mary, I hope to meet you sometime. Perhaps we can have a spring get together in San Jose.
~Angela
a get-together sounds like fun. i like looking at other people's yards when we're out driving and i'm in the passenger seat. i've seen several yards with big brug trees. in willow glen, the most memorable house is the one with the topiaries in the front. there's all sorts of animal shapes.
angela, if you still haven't smelled a brug yet, you might try regan's nursery in fremont. i was there about 2 weekends ago and their maya/sunset (although they labeled it peaches & cream) was in bloom. not sure if it still is but you might want to drop by if you pass that area. they had variegated suaveolens for sale too which should be blooming soon but i'm not sure if it has much fragrance.
Mary and Angela...a spring get together sounds great...and anyone else that lives near-by! I know that both of you visit the LA flea market and wonder if may have already met?
Angela, I have about a good half dozen bloosoms open...maybe you can get to smell one of Fri. Especially if you come late in the afternoon!
Margie
We'll plan on a get together. Maybe even a "progressive garden tour" where we can have a few stops...or, several get togethers....or...anyhoo, I look forward to meeting you all. I get "round up" envy!
Margie, I just sent you an email about tomorrow, maybe I should come a bit later? I REALLY want to smell one of these flowers. The descriptions I read about them truly have peaked my curiosity and everyone says they're like nothing else. Can't wait!
Angela...later is fine too! It would be nice if you could smell one! I will give you a call! and get some things ready for you!
Margie, from the bottom of my heart ~ thank you for a lovely afternoon. I loved seeing your gardens and visiting with you. Thanks so much for the wonderful goodies, you are too generous. Hopefully, I will be invited back when all the lilies are in bloom. You are the best!
~Angela
Did you get to smell a brug bloom? LOL! I hope so.
Brugie...Angela came before the scent came out for the evening and had to get back to her job!
Angela...your welcome! Enjoy them! I will let you know when Rosamond or Equador Pink or Pink Beauty open. Then you can see a pink one! Hopefully they will still open this year.
And yes, please come back anytime...when the daylilies open in the spring, will be an especially beautiful time to visit! So glad to have met you, too. And thank you for your plant and jars, too! The mums just look so like autumn...beautiful !!
Margie
