trees in wetlands, by ponds

Battle Ground, WA(Zone 8a)

Which trees do you find work best in ground that stays wet all winter, especially near your ponds? Do Acer Rubrums work well? I planted a Bald Cypress which should do great and various Willows, put would like to know about others.

Swamp Oak
Black Willow
American Holly
River Birch
Serviceberry
White Fringetree
American Sycamore

Acer Rubrums will work but they seem to be overplanted these days and I got tired of pulling all the little Red Maples that cropped up everywhere. The Bald Cypress is an excellent choice.

Strike that River Birch. I don't think it will do all that well in zone 8. Sorry about that. Didn't see your zone of 8a when I first posted.
