I got seeds from someone last year but could not get them to germinate.
I have both the red and purple variety blooming like crazy but I don't know where to find the seeds.

To get the porterweed seeds out, scrape your fingernail along the little scales left on the dried out flower stalks. The seeds are under those little scales. (You will need to do this over a newspaper as they fly everywhere.) And yes, they will all germinate from seeds. The red ones take longer it seems, but the will germinate from seeds also.
