A new variety of pink hardy waterlily?

Clayton, NC(Zone 8a)

Attached is a photo of a pink hardy waterlily, raised from seed to bloom this year, can anyone think which other pink hardy water lilies it might resemble?

Firecrest looks like the nearest match, though the new pink has quite prominent yellow stamens and a more star like petal habit

If it turns out to justify registering as a new variety, I just might have a go at that...

Oh lucky you if it is a new variety. What would name would you register it as? It is a very pretty lily. The color really jumps out at you!

I really haven't a clue as to what to name it, I am stumped.

There is the usual coercion of giving it the name of folk I know, or to try to think of something that relates to its apparent features, it has more petals than most pinks, it is sort of star shaped, the stamen are quite pronounced and elegant...

Apparently a new variety should not be submitted for naming unless there are some ten plants of it, so I might have a year or two to come up with a name.

As there are at least half a dozen new varieties coming along here, I could have a little 'pondering' to do on this one...

What ideas for a name have you come up with so far? This would be exciting to me to be able to name a new cultivar so you must be thrilled. How many plants do you have so far of this particular waterlily?

I look at that waterlily and I think there are going to be a lot of people who will want that.

Have you looked at Victoria Adventure to see if any look similar? http://www.victoria-adventure.org/waterlilies/names/names_main.html

Your cultivar is very pretty!! :D

I've looked at Perry's pink, that seems to be the closest on looks, that has around 33 petals which are are a little broader. The Mayla seedling has 36 or so petals which are longer and more elegant (I think)

As more seedlings get to a flowering size quite possibly more of this pink will show up this Summer. There is another new seedling which has some 50 pink petals which is bigger and more showy than the photo above, from a different brood of seedlings as well

Yups, I'll be scratching my head on names for some time

:)
