Barbie Aid 2004

Arnett, WV(Zone 5b)

Hello everyone! I am looking for barbie doll clothes for the newest member of our family 8yr old Julie. She came to live with us a few weeks ago after her mother passed away in August. Somehow all her clothes and toys disappeared. We took her and bought her a whole new wardrobe and a few toys.I never knew that childrens clothes cost as much if not more than adults! Now we are trying to do the same for her barbies. I have tried to purchase some on ebay and that gets rather expensive so it finally hit me Trade for them. I am looking for Doll furniture as well. My Hubby is building her a doll house for Christmas and I will be doing the basic decorating. So just about any barbie item will be appreciated. Just in case someone is interested I have plants, magazines, gardening supplies as well as Brand new J&P rose gloves and many other items. . If this is the wrong form I apoligize

catbirdsue- I'm sorry to hear about this little girls mother. It was wonderful you took her in. I volunteer at a mission store we always get in really nice toys. Tons of barbie stuff. Not to mention my own two girls have more barbie stuff then they could EVER use. Please do send me your address and I'll start gathering up stuff for Julie. Also, what size clothes does she wear? Is there anything else your looking for? I don't need a trade or postage.
Sending big hugs your way.

How wonderful of each and everyone of you!! The consignment shops is indeed a good idea. The only problem is that our area is very rural. When I do go out to the next larger town there really isnt much to choose from that isnt basically ruined. Dont get me wrong I am not looking for the best just good condition and not broken or stained and so far I have had no luck. I am so grateful for all of your responses.

I don't have barbie stuff, but am willing to donate for a christmas present or something if you guys want to set up a fund? Can we do that here? Like a secret santa thingy?

I am so overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone. It has been an experience for us all. Julie getting used to a new family. She had only met us twice before moving in and my DH and myself are in our 40's with no children so everything is brand new. We have managed to become a family,. Now that Julie is more comfortable her loss of her toys seem to bother her the most. She is in the gifted program at school she is in the 2nd grade. Speaking with her is like talking to an adult she is amazaing as well as frustrating at times. LOL She wears size 10 in clothing and 3 in shoes. I finally realized to buy a little bigger than they actually wear! I figured that out when she overnight grew out of her 7's and the back to the store we went. She loves her barbies and cats. She adores doing crafts as well as read. She is enamored of garfield she says they are just alike as thier favorite food is lasagna. LOL Dont get me wrong we have gotten her several things but we are starting from scratch with her all of our friends & family have tiny babies or adult children. We are building her a doll house for christmas and I want to outfit the barbies as well as furnish and decorate it for her. She dosent even know how to ride a bike so we found a second hand one that was small with training wheels and have been encouraging her to ride. She loves it so. That is one of the things we have gotten her for christmas. Its not easy getting a 20 in bike with training wheels.
So if I can trade for some things or pay postage I would be grateful. We so want to make this Christmas special. It will be her first with us and also without her mother. I want it to be filled with joy not sadness. I am sure everyone here can relate. I just want to make her happy or allow her the luxery of being happy.

What an amazing couple you are to take this dear sweet child in.

I have two girls and they have more than they will ever need. We will get a box of toys and books together over the weekend. This will be a great opportunity to teach my children, too.

May God bless you richly for your selfless desire to help one of His precious children.

Everyone you are too kind. My husband and I are doing this for Julie we are so happy that she choose us! She has hard a very hard life. She has seen and exprienced stuff that some of us only have nightmares about. Our intent is to love her and help guide her. To give her the opportunity to become anything she wants to be. To be loved and to be happy. I started this post to trade for some barbie clothes and funiture. What I haved gained is so much more. The warmth of kind words. The precious seeds of generosity. Encourgement which is the soil that helps us all to grow. Finally The showers of love and blessings that has rained down upon us. That my friends is what makes a beautiful garden!

I have a box of age-appropriate books that I'll be sending tomorrow, Cathy. My 12 year old outgrew them and this is a great way to hand them down to someone who will be able to enjoy them also.

Do you still have any need for clothes?

Arnett, WV(Zone 5b)

I just wanted to Thank Melva and let everyone know what joy that she sent to our Miss Julie.

She got the pkg Tues. We had to go get her first blood test that morn. She was such a big girl! Lots of whining but not a tear ! The post was near there so we went to the po and there lo and behold was your lovely pkg. What wonderful timing. She had just asked, would she get a special reward for being so brave? I had told that I was sure something special would happen, as already there was no school. Then volia Your kind heart supplied us with the perfect reward. We all thank you so very much!
